synopsis:

After Prometheus stole the fire of the Gods from Heaven and gave it to the Human race, Zeus ordered Hephaestus to create a woman out of clay. She would possess the beauty of a goddess, but as a punishment to Prometheus, would bring disaster to Humanity.

Each of the Gods gave her a different gift, and she was named Pandora, meaning 'all gifted'. Zeus presented her to the slow-witted brother of Prometheus, Epimetheus. Epimetheus was so enchanted with by Pandora's beauty that he took her for his wife.

Pandora brought with her a box that contained all the ills of mankind. Regardless of the warning ahe had been given against opening it, her curiosity overcame her and she opened it- releasing into the world the curses of pain, death, despair, poverty and disease. By the time Pandora closed the lid, only hope remained.

Yoko Tachikawa discovers an old box in her spare room one morning before school. While inspecting it she accidentaly drops it- releasing a mysterious creature who promptly disappears.

The creature is the physical manifestation of "Hope" who has been loocked in the box since Pandora closed the lid in the time of the ancient Greeks. Due to his confinement, Hope has now transformed into an evil demon and plans to desroy the world.

Together with Pain, Death, Disease, Poverty and Despair, and armed only with a coffee machine, Yoko must return Hope to Pandora's Box.
